I must say, I did not like Superman Returns in the least. I love the character of Superman, though I don't read the comics or anything, and the special effects are surely desirable. But the plot was the most cliche and predictable thing I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong - it was done just about as maturely as it ever has been. But it feels a bit like Eragon with actual effort put into it. Originality is still lacking.

~The Exorcist - Why ?
~Charlie & The Chocolate Factory - Johnny Depp ~ 'You not Gene Wilder'

I have to agree with you on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Although I generally enjoy Johnny Depp's performances, but this film and his portrayal in it was disturbing and not in a good way. Awful film.

I didn't see the original of The Fly, but I loved the remake. I think Cronenberg hit the nail on the head with this one-the perfect balance between horror and humor. It reminded me of An American Werewolf in London in that way.

The Fly - it's a remake?? regardless, the 'new' one from cronenberg is awesome, I can't image the one from the 50's ever coming close to being that good. I mean, it was the 50s, the golden era of cheezy-flicks.

~Psycho - i agree
~Get Carter - i agree
~The Italian Job (Its not even set in Italy ... It should have just been called 'The Job') - well said!

~Oceans Eleven - I didn't even know it was a remake. the entire Ocean's 'trilogy' sucks.

~The Thomas Crown Affair - disagree on this on. The original was so dull and boring. The chemistry between Pierce and that redhead in the remake was awesome.

~Planet Of The Apes - never cared for original, and remake sucked badly

~The Exorcist - 150% agree!

~Charlie & The Chocolate Factory - Johnny Depp ~ 'You not Gene Wilder' - TOTALLY 150% DIS-agree. Depp brought so much more character and eccentricism (sp?) to Willy Wonka that Gene Wilder never came close to achieving. The set was one of Burton's best works, the story flows a lot smoother, the flashbacks to Willy's past was much-appreciated, and I even like the newer songs better than that cheezy one they keep repeating in the original.

~The Poseiden Adventure ... never seen it

The original Ocean's Eleven with Sinatra, Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. is way more fun to watch than the new version. There's an extra on the dvd where you can watch the demolition of some of the old vegas casinos

~The Italian Job (Its not even set in Italy ... It should have just been called 'The Job') - Agreed
~Oceans Eleven - I liked the Rat pack edition more but the remake is also good but Oceans 12 and 13 are bad.
~Planet Of The Apes - Agreed

Charlie & The Chocolate Factory - Johnny Depp ~ 'You not Gene Wilder' - TOTALLY 150% DIS-agree.

Did you even read the book?
The original was true to the book and it didn't give Wonka a freaking daddy complex!

I personally liked the psychadelia of the original Wonka Factory over the mood present in the new one. It's all an opinion-laden matter. And Planet of the Apes? I haven't seen the original. The remake wasn't very engaging to me.

Does anyone have any opinions on Miami Vice? Collateral's my favorite movie, and I recently bought the DVD for it and watched it today for the first time since its theatrical run. I'd like to delve into Mann's other crime shoots.
